It has been awhile since I’ve posted here and it’s good to be back!
The last six weeks have been an absolute whirlwind. During that time, I was offered the chance to manage Winnipeg’s newest hotel, the Alt Hotel Winnipeg. It is a cool, funky hotel, right in the heart of downtown Winnipeg and even better, filled with an amazing
team of service minded people. On day one, I walked into an office filled with balloons and a lovely handmade card, signed by the entire team.
I’m proud to report our service team members are as committed to providing the same warm, friendly welcome to our guests (without balloons in their rooms of course!)
A few weeks ago, I flew to Quebec to meet our corporate team members in Montreal and Quebec City and met and visited the Alt and Germain Hotels in those cities.
The team in at Alt Griffintown welcomed me with a lunch on the patio overlooking their lovely city. I have met many lovely people at Groupe Germain and look forward to meeting more.
And then (yes, there is more!) my husband I travelled to BC to visit Amy who is once creating interesting and exciting life stories. We spent a few days in Victoria before heading up to Quadra Island, where she has been living and working since May. Quadra Island is a lovely, laid back community where cellular service and Wi-Fi is sporadic at best. We went for long walks, sail boat rides (Amy had discovered a passion for sailing!) and a wildlife zodiac tour that allowed us to view orcas, humpback whales, dolphins, sea lions, seals, porpoises and a black bear all in their natural environment. Truly incredible. In October, Amy flies to Thailand and will be travelling until ???. And yes, I did cry when she hugged me after dropping us off at the airport. (When did I get old enough to have children old enough to drop me off at an airport?!)
So long story short, I feel I am now finally starting to settle into a routine. The whirlwind is dying down and I look forward to reconnecting with all of you. Happy Friday!
